Testosterone is the male sex hormone. This hormone was first isolated in 1935 from ground-up bull test, but was not the first male sex hormone to be isolated. That hormone was androsterone which was a metabolized less potent variation of testosterone excreted from urine. there is little difference between their structures. A double-bonded oxygen atom replaced the OH of testosterone in androsterone because of it being an oxidized version of testosterone.
